Why do I need ventilation?
You need a well-ventilated van. Ventilation not only helps keep you more comfortable on warm days but is a necessity when cooking to help reduce humidity and unwanted odors in your van.
We don’t have great ventilation in our own van, so we’re happy to pass on our lessons learned to help you with your van build. Our bed is in the back of the van, but the airflow moves in front of the bed. It gets hot. It’s important to consider the layout of your van when deciding on your ventilation.
What do I need?
Vans really require one or two ventilation fans. You’ll have to consider your energy usage and balance it with the amount of solar power you have. If your van’s usage allows and you have space for two, we strongly suggest that you go with two.
Which one do I choose?
Ninety percent of van lifers use the Maxxfan. The standard Maxxfan is a 4-speed manual exhaust fan that fits a 14” x 14” rooftop opening. We suggest and carry the Maxxfan Deluxe. It is a 10-speed reversible fan that comes with an exclusive built-in rain shield. The rain shield is one of the main reasons the Maxxfan Deluxe is so popular. With the shield, you can use the fan in the rain and while you’re driving. It has a thermostat to control the room temperature and offers an optional remote control with a programmable thermostat. It fits standard 14” x 14” openings.
