Eric - Owner / engineer
- When I was 5, I was pretty sure I'd be a fighter pilot when I grew up.
- My favorite part of my job is designing new products and then testing them and using them on our van.
- My current favorite outdoor activity is backcountry skiing because it combines fitness, adventure, and fun all into one awesome sport.
- The most memorable adventure I've had so far has to be quitting my last job, building out a van, and hitting the road with Cat. This single action has led to countless additional crazy awesome adventures from Grand Canyon trips, skiing Fourteeners, climbing Mt. Rainier, and starting Unaka with Dan which has been its own awesome adventure.
Dan - Owner
- If the team held a talent show at the office, I'd wow everyone with my improv talent.
- My favorite part of my job is working with people I love. There's nothing better than achieving success with a team that is motivated, hard working, and focused on a common goal.
- My current favorite outdoor activity is backpacking, because it's simple and forces you to exist with as little stuff as possible. You can't find another activity that is as fun to prepare for either. I might enjoy preparing for a backpacking trip as much as I like backpacking.
- The most memorable adventure I've had so far is taking my family of 5 on a 2-week trip to Colorado in a Sprinter 144. So many memories were made.
Cat - Accounting
- When I was 5, I was pretty sure I'd be a veterinarian when I grew up.
- My favorite part of my job has to be my teammates at Unaka. We're a small crew, but have been able to accomplish some big things together.
- My current favorite outdoor activity is backcountry skiing. I love being able to explore places few people get to see in the winter. Skiing elusive untracked powder is also a bonus:)
- The most memorable adventure I've had so far is trying to reach the high point in every state which has brought me to the top of some pretty cool mountains - Katahdin, Hood, Rainier, etc. Although some are tougher than others, each one has dished out its own challenges and there is always a spectacular view from the top.
Brad - CEO
- When I was 5, I was pretty sure I'd be a superhero when I grew up. Still waiting on my powers to show up...
- My favorite part of my job is that I can wear shorts in the office.
- My current favorite outdoor activity is campfires. I love the crackle, the warmth, how its always changing, and being able to enjoy a fire with others.
- The most memorable adventure I've had so far is being a dad. Getting to see my kids faces light up with excitement and wonder when we are out on a hike or bike ride or walk and just spending time with my family in general is the most memorable adventure. For me, it's the people I'm with more-so than the place that is unforgettable
Lauren - Customer Service
- If the team held a talent show at the office, I'd wow everyone with my ability to turkey call. My turkey call (all natural..no help by store bought calls) is recognized by the Merlin Bird ID app and is also proven to work in the wild.
- My favorite part about my job is getting to be a part of the Unaka team each day and getting to assist customers in getting the things they need to help their adventure come to life.
- My current favorite outdoor activity is anything with my family. I love to sit around a campfire with them, love to go on hikes with them, but my favorite place to sit with them is on the beach.
- The most memorable adventure I've had so far was one I was very reluctant to try at first. We decided to load our whole family (Dad, Mom and three kids) into a camper van and drive across the country to explore Colorado. I wasn't too sure about sleeping in a van with three kids, but that trip created memories we talk and laugh about all the time.
Matt - Operations
- When I was 5, I was pretty sure I'd be a firefighter when I grew up.
- My favorite part of my job is working with our crew. We have a great group of people and it's awesome to get to work somewhere you genuinely enjoy, regardless of the day's tasks. I also enjoy throwing stuff away.
- My current favorite outdoor activity is overnight river trips with my wife and friends.
- The most memorable adventure I've had so far is being fortunate enough to go on multiple river trips, ranging from 16-23 days, on the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon. It's one of the best places in the world.
Jill - Marketing
- When I was 5, I was pretty sure I'd be a country music singer when I grew up.
- My favorite part of my job is watching people take the leap—getting outside and pursuing their freedom—and seeing their bravery pay off on the other side.
- My current favorite outdoor activity is just being outside and away from a screen. I’m pretty laid-back—I love a good walk. I’m convinced fresh air and sunshine can help just about anything.
- My most memorable adventure I've had so far was camping in a Mayan village in the Guatemalan jungle. It’s where I saw a massive tarantula—I swear it was the size of my entire hand.
steve - shop dad
- If you were a pasta shape, I would be spaghetti, because I’m tall and lean. Plus I love to eat it.
- My favorite part of my job is providing a product that helps people live out their dream to explore this big and beautiful country we live in.
- My current favorite outdoor activity is all forms of cycling. Mountain biking is my favorite but I also like gravel and road.
- My most memorable adventure I've had so far was a mountain biking trip to Moab. The views were spectacular and the trail’s ranged from mild to wild!
