When it's time to run wire in your van, the most crucial step in the process is all about planning. Before you even think of making any cuts, take a moment to strategize and plan it out.
Do what Cat and I did- grab some painters tape and get creative. Mark exactly where everything will be placed in your van. This simple visual aid will give you a clear picture of how to route the wires effectively. Measure the distance from your electrical box to each point, so you know exactly how much wire you'll need.
Once you've got your plan in hand, it's time to head to the store. Consider the electrical load they'll carry, and make sure you're using the right wire gauge for each application. Don't stress; you can use this handy calculator to figure it out.
Lastly, always pull a bit more wire than you think you need. It's better to have too much than too little. After all, it's easier to trim down extra wire than to splice additional pieces together.
So take your time, plan it out, size your wires accordingly, and don’t cut yourself short.
